From picking pumpkins to enjoying cozy bonfires and fall fairs, there are plenty of fun fall things to do that cater to families and kids alike.
Personally, I am so ready for a break from the blazing heat, the stifling humidity, the hungry mosquitoes, and those pesky yellow jackets that seem to be everywhere. So, bring on fall things, I say!
15 Fun Fall Activities to do With Kids
Let’s explore 15 fantastic fall activities that families can do together to celebrate the magic of autumn and create lasting bonds.
1) Pumpkin Patch Adventure
One of the quintessential fall traditions for families is visiting a local pumpkin patch. Take a stroll among rows of pumpkins of various shapes and sizes, and let the kids select their perfect pumpkin to bring home!
Enjoy the hayrides, corn mazes, and other fall activities often found at pumpkin patches. Some even have food booths with yummy goodies like caramel or candy apples, apple cider or hot chocolate. This is a fall family tradition that we just love doing each year!
2) Apple Picking Excursion
Nothing says fall like a day spent apple picking in an orchard. Head to a nearby apple farm, equip yourselves with baskets, and embark on an adventure to pick ripe, juicy apples straight from the trees. Back home, turn those apples into mouthwatering treats like apple pies, apple crisps, or simply enjoy them fresh.
3) Nature Hikes and Leaf Collecting
Take in the gorgeous fall scenery by going on nature hikes with your family. Collect fallen leaves of various colours, shapes, and sizes during your trek. Later, use them for fall arts and crafts such as leaf rubbings or creating beautiful collages!
4) Cozy Bonfire Nights
As the evenings turn cooler, gather around a cozy bonfire in your backyard (check your local bylaws to ensure it’s allowed!). Roast marshmallows, tell stories, and bundle up next to a cozy fire. This is the perfect outdoor family activity for family bonding and creating lasting memories.
