The options are pretty endless and it all depends on your mood and vibe that day!

Kimono Beach Cover Ups
The Kimono style is one of our favorites! These are not traditional Japanese kimonos but instead, a fashion style based on their cut.
They are so flowy and elegant-looking and I find them the perfect thing for covering my swimsuit.
The beauty of this style is its multi-purpose functionality… a kimono cover-up can be worn over any type of outfit, not only swimsuits!
Kimono Cardigans
A variation of the kimono, a long kimono cardigan with buttons is a nice option when you want a little more coverage in the front.
These are great for when you want to cover your swimsuit when popping into shops or restaurants on your beach vacation.
Kaftan Cover-Ups
Similar to Kimono cover-ups, kaftan cover-ups have a beautiful flowy quality and are just so darn comfortable! They come in a wide variety of patterns and materials too from ultra-sheer to heavier cotton.
Traditional kaftans are long-sleeved and go to the floor but beach cover-up kaftans can stray from tradition quite a bit.
Some are long and some are mid-thigh so you can always get the amount of coverage you desire! I really like the over-the-head style.
No buttons, no ties, just pop it on over your bathing suit, cover up, and you’re good to go!
Sarongs
Traditionally worn by men and women in Southeast Asia, sarongs are now super popular in the Western world and make beautiful beach cover-ups.
A sarong is a garment consisting of a long piece of thin fabric worn wrapped around the body and tucked at the waist or under the armpits.
In the Caribbean Islands, they are also called wraps or pareos, and there are a gazillion ways to tie them!
Aside from making the cutest beach cover-ups, sarongs can also be used as shawls (great to protect a sunburn), head scarfs, beach throws, or towels!
Tunic Cover-Ups
If you want to show a little more leg, then perhaps a tunic cover-up/beach dress will suit your style. Some of these even have pockets, which can be really handy!

Sun Dresses
Sundresses work great as beach cover-ups! They never seem to go out of style and they are a staple in my summer and vacation wardrobe.

Maxi Beach Cover-Up Dresses
Maxi Dresses are a great choice when you want a beach cover-up with full coverage. And they too are oh, so comfortable! Are you sensing a theme here? I really go for comfort!
Long beach cover-up dresses are perfect for lounging around the pool deck or for strolling around hitting beach shops and local restaurants or beach bars. Wherever you happen to be vacationing, be sure to pack at least one maxi dress in your suitcase!
As a side note, if you are a new mom, maxi dresses are the perfect thing to have in your postpartum wardrobe!
Rompers
Sometimes called jumpsuits, rompers can be short, long, or anywhere in between! They are designed to be flowy and comfy and are one of the cutest swim cover-ups you can wear. I think rompers are actually adorable. One downside can be they are a bit of a hassle when going to the bathroom but if you get creative, you can figure that out. Ladies, you do know what I’m talking about right? With endless patterns and colors, you’re sure to find a romper that you will love! Dress up your beach romper with a blingy pair of sandals or keep it super casual with your most comfortable flip-flops.

Crochet Beach Cover-Ups
Crochet swim cover-ups often have a boho vibe to them and they are really sexy!
They are see-through without being totally see-through and yes again, very very comfortable and cool.
They can be found in any of the styles we’ve covered already, tunic, short sleeve, full length, or mini dress.
If crochet is the look you like, you can easily find a cute beach cover-up that you will love.
Button Down Blouse or Boyfriend Shirt Cover-Up
Maybe dresses just aren’t your style. No problem! A button-down shirt cover-up is a simple classic look that never goes out of style.
White and light colors are very popular for this style. Go for linen or other natural fibers to keep cool.
A button-down/boyfriend shirt as a swimsuit cover up will provide full coverage of your top half (great if you’re soothing a sunburn) while still showing some leg.
It’s always a great casual look for the beach or anywhere!
To me, you can’t go wrong with a classic white linen button-down!
Oversized T-Shirt or Tank Top
Sometimes you just want to keep it totally casual. That’s where a big ol’ t-shirt, t-shirt dress, or long tank top comes in handy.
Low-key comfy cotton tees with cute graphics and sayings are fun for those days when you don’t feel like taking yourself too seriously.
T-shirt cover-ups are perfect for when you don’t want to overthink your outfit.
Just throw on your cool tee and hit the beach!
Beach Cover-Up Pants (Pallazzo and Harem)
Beach pants are awesome! If you’re a bit self-conscious about your bottom half and prefer to show off your top, these are the way to go.
Sheer beach pants are so light and airy, covering your legs while you still feel like you are wearing nothing.
Some even have slit sides which can be quite sexy.
Pretty mandala pattern harem pants can be worn at the beach, the pool, or perhaps a beachside yoga class!
Beach Shorts
I’ve always had a tomboy streak in me so I feel right at home wearing a pair of cut-off jean shorts over my bathing suit.
If denim is too heavy for you, there are shoreside shorts in lighter comfy fabrics like linen, cotton, and terrycloth. Light fabrics make the best material for cover-up shorts because they dry really quickly. In other words, you won’t have to deal with a wet bottom. A cute two-piece loungewear set with drawstring shorts is another great choice!
