Back in the day, if you wanted to work out at home, you put on your legwarmers, headband and popped a tape into the VCR. Yes, you could get a good workout in but it definitely got tiresome doing the same “Buns of Steel” video over and over again. (And yes, I realize I’m dating myself by saying Buns of Steel). Oh my gosh, some of those videos were soooo cheesy!

Thankfully, the days of relying on VCR tapes for working out are done and now there are a wealth of fitness resources that are easily available online.

I had a gym membership for most of my life. But after having my son, I found it was just easier to fit exercise into my schedule by working out at home. There’s no getting your gym bag ready with your gear and shower stuff, no commuting back and forth to the gym. And best of all, no monthly gym membership fees.

And honestly, who doesn’t love saving time and money?

One of the things I love about the workouts I get on YouTube is that you can some amazing full-body workouts that involve little to no equipment. So whether you want to try yoga, HIIT, Tabata, or an at-home walking workout, you can bet you’ll find the right fit for you.

These female fitness Youtubers are fantastic at motivating and challenging you to do and be your best.

Really, no matter your fitness level, there’s something for everyone. And, there are always modifications that you can do until you get fitter and stronger.

Of course, you’ll need a mat, a water bottle and a towel for these workouts but that’s about it! If you have some light weights, great. Otherwise, you can always substitute soup cans for weights in a pinch.

6 Of The Best Female Fitness YouTubers For Home Workouts

1. Holly Dolke

Holly Dolke’s mission is to help women get to the point where fitness and healthy living become a passion and where instead of hating exercise, they thrive on it.

Holly started building her YouTube channel in earnest in 2017 and it has exploded to become one of the best female fitness influencers. Her channel now has around 1.7 million subscribers. Pretty impressive!

Holly Dolke transformed her own life with health and fitness and got inspired to help others.

I love the fact that she incorporates HIIT (High Intensity Interval Training) and Tabata routines in her videos. You get more bang for your buck so to speak. HIIT workouts can burn as much as walking or jogging on the treadmill in a third of the time. It’s a killer workout but at least it’s over quickly!

If you’re not sure what HIIT and Tabata training are all about click here. But it’s not all high intensity so, choose your level. There’s also Pilates, Yoga, stretching, meditation, power walking and dance. Whew!

Since her YouTube channels took off, Holly Dolke has become a new mom and has created workout for pregnancy and postpartum moms as well. Perfect for those of us who want to tone up the so-called “mom bod”.

2. The Betty Rocker

Betty Rocker (Bree Argetsinger) is a certified health and fitness coach and a nutrition specialist who loves sharing her passion for getting fit with people all over the world.

She has amazing energy and her cool persona comes across as really welcoming, motivating and fun.

The workouts are kick-ass, even the short ones and she always has some kind of challenge going on. She’s just plain cool and never ceases to motivate me.

Her channel also covers yummy, EASY healthy recipes, plus mindset and motivation. You can find The Betty Rocker on Facebook, Insta or her website and get your workouts directly to your inbox.

I absolutely love her and trust me, she will make you feel like a rock star too when you crush a workout.

3. Melissa Bender

A former fitness competitor, Melissa Bender started her healthy living vlog channel about 10 years ago. And from there, she has evolved into being one of the best female fitness YouTubers out there.

She and her husband are avid fitness enthusiasts and are both licensed occupational therapists. They believe that you “exercise can help you to maintain a maximum level of health and wellness throughout your life”.

The focus here is on balance, strength, and flexibility. Taking care of the vehicle (your body) that will carry you through your life and maximize it!

Melissa has hundreds of instructional workout videos for you to choose from and puts out 3-5 per week. She’s had two babies over the course of her Youtube career, one just recently (and she looks Ah. Maze. Zing. That in itself inspires me!) So, she has incorporated prenatal and postnatal workouts as well as yoga practices and boot camps into her playlist.

Her positive, bright personality is uplifting, and she proves that you really CAN get back in shape after having babies! If you’re a new mom, and ready to start working on your fitness, check out her 6 Week Workout Challenge: Postpartum and Beyond.

4. Tone It Up

Karena and Katrina are the co-founders of the Tone It Up website, app and YouTube Channel. Two California girls who are best friends and just happened to have built an empire around health and fitness.

Most of the workouts are around 30 minutes long, minimal equipment and easy to follow.

There is no shortage of videos to mix and match and a variety of instructors, each with their own fitness journey story. Tone It Up also has individual programs that you can purchase for a more personalized fitness and nutrition plan if that’s something you’re interested in trying.

They bring to their channel a wealth of knowledge and an endless supply of motivation and encouragement along with the workouts.

Even better, they make you feel you can actually enjoy the journey to reach your goals and not that exercising is some form of punishment. Just a very feel-good tribe…you can’t go wrong with this one!

5. Yoga With Adriene

If you’ve come across any of my other articles on yoga, you’ll know that I’m a huge fan of Adriene Mishler at Yoga With Adriene.

A Texas native, she has a wonderfully positive and playful teaching approach, combined with gentle encouragement. Her motto is to find what feels good and her classes are excellent for any level.

She and Benji (her adorable doggie cohost) will always only encourage you to focus on your breath, do the best you can in every pose, and set intentions for why you are on the mat that day.

Every January, Adriene sets a theme and has a 30-day yoga challenge (free and available to view any time of the year), which I have done and LOVED. The classes are mostly around 25-45 minutes so totally doable for any schedule.

Even if you’ve never done yoga before but are curious, I highly recommend starting with Adriene.

She has 12 million subscribers on YouTube, so apparently I’m not the only one who thinks she’s the bomb!

6. Up To The BEat Fit

I recently found this channel and I am loving it! Power walking workouts combined with a little grooving and singing, reminiscent of those 90’s aerobic classes but updated and a lot of fun to do!

Gina B.’s background is ballroom and competitive Latin dance and her punchy attitude and energy will really get you moving.

She has an amazing transformation story as part of her background and is open about her struggles with her love of food and how she came out triumphant on the other side. Gina is a true inspiration because she’s had personal issues with her weight and you can tell she genuinely wants to help and encourage other women with their fitness goals.

As a certified personal trainer, Gina is committed to proving that fitness can be inclusive and accessible for all ages, fitness levels and body types.

Her channel features the most amazing remixed playlists to work out to (I loved the Michael Jackson one I did today!), even if you’re not a great dancer like me *sigh*… you will love these power walking/dance workouts. If you have little ones, they will get right in on the dancing and marching action with you!

Gina sprinkles in a few vlog style videos too but mostly it’s power walking and dancing baby!
